1.10.10

Dear Blogger,
These few chapters of my book have kept me smiling from ear to ear, Jesus is so good! Today was a God day! Church almost all day! I also had another party today for my friend Kristen. It was fun, and after much food, card tricks (of course), wii, ping pong, and teaching myself how to play the drums we had to get back to church. Of course at church our friends, also missionaries, were preaching at the church that evening. I had also invited some friends from bible study, we had a whole party! Everyone came over after church and we had some good hour and a half game of Ninja...= AMAZING. Got to love those Ninja fiends.

1.9.10

Dear Blogger,
A Saturday isn't a school day! Alas, for a homeschooler ANY day can be a school day. I did school all day in great anticipation of the evening. Christy's birthday party was a shoe-in for the best day of the week.
The party was like any other party, food, friends, and fun. All three F's make up some of the best parties I've ever been too. After some fun with their antique pump organ and making up our own commercials we decided to play a game of extreme spoons. I, of course always having at least a pack of cards on me at all times, volunteered one of my decks along with Christy's deck as well. We mixed them together and with 13 people played the most epic game of spoons in the history of ANYONES book. (that's right...I said it..)
The spoons were placed outside, across the snow laden yard, into the frozen birdbath that was approximately 30 feet away. Shoe and sock were thrown aside and the cards started speeding around the circle of teens. Two Queens...Three...I only needed one more...FOUR! I jumped up, which instantly triggered everyone else in the room to do the same. Cards were flying everywhere, limbs flailing, I knew I had kicked a few people by the time I made it to the door and whipped it open, revealing to the cold dark world that there were 13 ravenous teens mowing each other down for a piece of concave metal.
My first attempt at grasping a spoon I ended up with three! I threw two back and as I slipped and slid all over the snowy ground, made it back to the warm house, panting. I grinned and stared at the shiny piece of metal that kept my hand at a freezing temperature. I had won.

Dear Blogger,
From the lack of disheveled hair and un-make-uped face you wouldn't think I was a bum today. On the contrary, I was very much so a bum. Instead of doing school I decided to sit around on the internet and watch TV shows until my eyeballs seem to have melted through and turned into a white gloop that sat on my keyboard (however, I still managed to finish my show...)
I got all dressed up, and I had to go somewhere! Luckily the homecoming game at my old school was that evening so I invited a few friends and went. Meeting with old friends, the basketball game itself, and card tricks and hacky sack with Chris and Julio really made this night fun. Spontaneous things like this make my book quite the adventure, and although I can't really explain in words everything I did, as it would take me a lot more than 525, 948 minutes I shan't.

Adios, Mandy

Dear Blogger,
So I decided that sometimes I'll write like a story...and sometimes I'll write like a diary. It's up to you to figure out which one I'm doing when hehe.
By the look of my hair, and my t-shirt I was at work today. (My under-the-counter job, not Panera) It's quite the job at the horse barn, always something to do. Cleaning stalls - I'm pretty much a turd specialist, Feeding dinner and making breakfast for the horses - It's like culinary school but with grain! Moving horses around - I guess that makes me an escort too Things like that. I've been around horses all my life, so this kind of stuff has just become second nature. We introduced one of the horses, Anna, to her new "roomate", which actually went over better than I thought! There was a bit of that wretched sound horses make when they squeal, and a few kicks were flown, but for the most part they were good to one another.

Best Wishes, Mandy

1.6.10

Dear Blogger,
Today my book took a big leap! I interviewed for my first (not-under-the-counter) job at Panera Bread. I wasn't nervous until I realized I was running late after I got done with school and had to rush getting ready, before I knew it I had to go! I threw on my favorite pink scarf (which is actually a belt I bought in Mexico) and took off.
You know, since I'm using the metaphor book = life I should write this like a book. Here goes...

I walked in with my brother not far behind, he had very kindly given me a ride to the interview, as he used to work there as well and wanted to say hi to some of the co-workers. After waiting almost 45 minutes (and having quite the lovely little conversation with the cute busboy) for the interview to start the manager finally walked back. The heavy-set man in his late 20's sat down across introducing himself. "Hi, I'm Matt..." and the interview ensued. Through a series of questions and answers in the matter of 15 minutes they closed the interview. "I'll get back to you in about 3 weeks..." he stated as he stood. "Nice to meet you Mandy, we'll give you a call." With a nod of the head, he was back to work and I was walking back towards the door, cell phone in hand.
"Hey!" I turned around to see the busboy walking up to me, his afore inside-out hat was turned right-side in, I secretly wondered if that was against the restaurants regulations. "Did you get the job?" He asked with a grin.
"Um, I'm not sure yet, he said he'd let me know in about three weeks." A slight twinge sadness rang from my voice and I looked at my feet. I kept walking towards the door, and he with me, opening it for me to walk through. "Thank you." I said quietly as he whipped out his rag and spray bottle and started wiping down the doors.
"Three weeks? That's ridiculous." He said, his New Jersey accent pulling the awkwardness out of two strangers meeting.
"Yeah..."I said with a smile as I dialed my brother's number. "Well I have to go," I said, putting the phone up to my ear.
"Well what's your name?" He asked, I noticed just a bit of anxiety rush over his features.
"Mandy."
"Well Mandy, I'll put in a good word for you." He said with a wink, I blushed and thanked him as my brother picked up the phone. I walked out to the sidewalk as he told me he was at the grocery store and would be over there soon. I waited outside in the 30 degree weather for about a minute, turned around, and noticed the busboy already had the door open for me. "Get back in here! It's cold outside!" I laughed and briskly walked back into the building.
We had a fun little conversation for a few minutes then where he managed to ask about where I go to school and how old I was, surprised at my age he backed off a little bit. "How old do you think I am?" He asked with a grin.
"19?" I fiddled with my bracelet.
"Close, 20." He said as he sprayed down the door again.
Just then my phone rang again, my brother had arrived. I answered to him singing his own version of Meet Me Halfway by the Black Eyed Peas, asking me to meet him at the car. With a laugh I said goodbye. "I hope you get the job." He stated sincerely as the door closed behind me. I yelled "Thanks!" And ran to the car.
For the next hour we waited at a garage awaiting my brother's car to be realigned. Then once his steering wheel fit his tires we made haste to church.

Love, Mandy

Dear Blogger,
I was a bum today. How can you tell? Hair is up in a bun, and I'm wearing two articles of clothing from aeropostale....ha. I clearly stayed home all day.

With care, Mandy

Dear Blogger,
Good hair day = happiness!
Don't the pink dots on my wall just make you want to go frolic through a field of daisies?
